I dont have satellite but its been there since the start on choice. Only brit shows are watchable since they are made at the stupid 50fps rates. Anything US/Canadian is aweful, and that is all that hgtv seems to have.

Ads are not the same as shows. Ads may look ok but the show is horrid.

dropped frames, like gaming on a machine too slow to deliver a proper 60fps - things jump around.

I have the same issues with both channels.  Doesnt really worry me too much but it can be a little off putting.

That is in 30 FPS so hardly representive of what is seen.

I will try grabbing some off the TV at 240FPS sometime, but will have to change things around since im using the coax for sdi at the moment, and somethings making it not recieve off air with a piece of wire at the moment.

My old eyes could not see it on Choice but definitely on HGTV. That's OK as I seldom watch HGTV it's programming annoys me

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Last night I watched a recording from HGTV that was even worse.  Not just judder on pan, but also jaggies around anything that moved - it must have been converted from an interlaced source without being deinterlaced!  Extremely unprofessional of them.

I wonder if they are converting it, or in fact just being supplied video files that have already been converted for them.

The extent to which the weird encoding on Choice/HGTV manifests as visible issues is probably highly dependent on the equipment decoding it, isn't it? Making it difficult to compare subjective experiences from different users.

In my case (HPTC running Kodi) the picture/frame rate is generally fine, but I get major audio sync issues. For quite a while I had to disable passthrough of the audio to my receiver because there'd be a huge (5+ second delay) with it on. This has recently improved and I can use passthrough again - whether that's due to a software update at my end or a change in the broadcast signal, I don't know.

I can't say that I've paid any particular notice on how the shows are displayed.

The content is great at times, at other times all those shows feel like they come off a conveyor belt.

I see that too. Take Fanpass, its AWESOME at the Olympics, then another event its , well, hmm ok. Sorta, maybe.

It has to be the source rather than the distributed content.
