I would try a large phased array aerial like this http://www.freeviewshop.co.nz/large-phased-array-aerial-freeview-p-595.html and a new piece of coax as an experiment, move it up and down the pole ( standing height ) to see how it goes, if it works clamp it on and enjoy, if it does not work you will have to try something else.

 

 

 

 

I second this advice. If you're up to the task of getting a new antenna plus bringing it up and taking the old one down, this is what I'd suggest to try. In fact, you probably won't have to raise a phased array antenna to the same height.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will seriously consider it for the future, maybe when the weather improves. Standing on the roof in a breeze doesn't appeal to me at the moment. I feel the cold too much.

+1 for a phased array aerial. Made a huge difference at our old house with fringe reception

We finally got around to rotating the antenna. Went 15 degrees to the right, 5 degrees at a time, then 5 degrees left. Original position points directly at mast according to compass. Changes to right did not make any difference to signal values or pixelation. Change to left seemed to make it a little worse, in any case, no better.

 

So now we have that one out of the way. Next thing will probably be phased aerial and/or masthead amp.

As mentioned earlier, adjusting the height once you have the direction will have more effect ,but obviously you have to try the easiest option first

Apsattv mentioned that. How important is that really in our location? Obviously we have 4G (our RBI) and neighbours have it for their phones but no-one is that close to us and signal density is low. It is nothing like being in town. Would 4G interference still be an issue?
