Managed to get the APK and decompiled it, I can confirm they are using existing streams, with no CDN. They seem to use the same API as Freeview Ondemand for logging in and getting the EPG

Well that proves its pretty much "hackish"

Channels have to provide their own stream independent of Freeview, no standards in resolution , bitrate, audio quality, or subtitles etc.

Rather than it being a "Freeview service"

So what happens when one of the broadcasters change their stream urls? as they tend to do. Byebye reception until the app is updated !

Very janky, an outside contributor can essentially pull the plug or redirect some of the streams and cripple parts of the device. They're lucky that they didn't choose a dodgier stream source...

OK - so I defended the device and the use of the term 'Hackish'.

Hackish would now seem appropriate - Either that or someone left some sloppy code in the app. Programmers do like to take shortcuts sometimes and 'I will fix that later' doesnt always happen....

urls above are raw stream urls usually they end in .m3u8

most player can handle them , such as vlc or any device that take raw url

They are often put into a .m3u playlist which is compatible with a lot of different devices and apps

p.s the one for Shine doesnt even work...!
