Thanks for the CGA excerpt. If the product is outside of the manufacturer/importer/retailer warranty it becomes a negotiation over what is the reasonable lifetime of the product. I agree with you that we should expect better from the importer and reasonable lifetime should be 5 years not 13 or 18 months. Depends on how much energy and time you have to pursue this with the importer. I heard the bankrupt retailer owed him a lot of money for unpaid stock. Anyway to his credit he offered to replace the power supply and courier back for $30 or $40. I went with JX for service because I didn't want a repeat due to replacing a failed PSU with another underrated one. To my knowledge the CGA doesn't cover warranty repairs. My biggest lesson is don't buy new consumer electronic goods from small traders. Pay a little extra and go with credible companies whom you can have recourse if you need it.
