Yeah, the TV isn't even picking up the muxes now. Used to just pick up the channels as data services.

I was talking with one of the techs that set up the transmitter here in southland and he said one of the biggest issues with it at the moment is its rather under powered. Something like it's running at 30kvA and it should be running at 3000kvA. He said that they were waiting for a new transformer to be installed in the next couple of weeks.

Who's the tech working on it? Kordia or independent like Martin or Alister?

That's 7KW @ 230 volts. I'd imagne their digital TX wont be bigger than that, not when they're using directional antennas.

Might be running off an exciter at 30 to 300 watts or something until they get 3KW output or better. Although 300 Watts would be enough in to directional antenna's which looks more like the design.

I did have a pdf here with dBw power ratings for their e.i.r.p but I can't find it.

I decided to go for a walk today (had nothing to do in between thunderstorms) and look where I ended up!

For those wanting to go walking up there, its a slog uphill all the way - allow 30 minutes or so.

Looks like most of the work has finished.

I can't get over how perfect the picture is with DVB-T compared to the old vhf from hedgehope. If it wasn't for getting sport on SKY I would ditch them.

Will Cue tv go DVB-T, or stay with DVB-S and vhf?

PS: has everyone else got 11 channels tuned in or are there more now?

And I don't think Cue's in any hurry to go DVB-T.

And you're right the picture is pretty good. No blocky pictures like with Sky. It's almost like they got the compression right.

From what Ive been told a lest 3 weeks away as they need the transformer changed out and most of there staff (power) are in chch at this time.
As far as the tx goes Im told its at 1/4 power tell they get the transformer in place so more testing will be needed done after that I would think so how knows 4 weeks tell alls done ?

Sky pay good money for Prime's 2 Mbps. Fellet considers anything better for Prime not warranted as considered too expensive for an organisation like Sky. People into horse racing generally are too focused on the content so ignore the macroblocking but I agree that it is unwatchable and as bad as satellite service. Remember that horse racing will have their very own mux at analog switchoff. Sky get 5 muxes including Maori TV and Prime muxes.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.
