i mentioned i had no issues with the V16 update with sound cutting out, well the first sound cut was tonight . oh well
All i had to do was pause and play to fix it . even if this is due to us ffwding in 1min instead of 10 min i dont care its well worth it. i expect it is an issue with the update there is always something !!

Looks like Freeviewshop now has the 3700 available at $699

Freeviewshop

I've encountered the audio drop out after jumping forward/back and start playing again for a few versions of the firmware. Always fixed by pausing/playing again.

Save yourself some money and get Crazy Stu to ship you one for A$299:

http://crazystu.com.au/Magic_TV_MTV4000PVR_1TB_Dual_HD_PVR_MHEG_5_MPEG_2_4_H_264_HDMI_Optional_Wirel...

Assuming you can re-flash it with NZ compatible firmware.

Interested to see how people rate the 3700. Will it be modable just as easily? Only time will tell I guess.

Jimmy22: looks like V3.15 is on the web site again no V3.16 anymore ?!?

and this

"

I have found 3.16NZ to be problematic, with the sound not working after jumping forward. Although I have been using the patched version, I don't know if these problems exist in the unpatched version. It's relatively easy to fix by pausing and playing - but still not ideal. One other problem I have noticed is that after jumping forward it can get stuck in a short loop of a few seconds. Can anyone confirm these problems on an unlatched 3.16 firmware?

I don't think it's my patching that directly causes the problem, it's not like I am mixing old libraries with new. My only change it patching the 4 bytes in a library that directly control the skip forward and backwards time duration. But this change might expose a bug that otherwise you would not see when skipping 10 minutes at a time. Or might not see due to not using that functionality of skipping 10 minutes at a time.

I have made the payment for the GPL CD. I will post when I receive it, and will probably post a link to an ISO image.

Cheers,
Ian.

I am running your patched 3.16NZ and have not yet had any sound issues.  In the past (ver 3.13 beta 4) I have very occasionally had issues when I have turned the MagicTV on and there has been no sound. Changing channels always fixed that issue though. It has not happened to me with patched ver 3.16.

In fact I have had no issues at all. Everything is working well, especially the 1 minute forward skips.

Ringo.

Ian, there is another theory, that is the sound bug for the advance skip has always been there but because it was originally 10 minutes, it would have hardly been used. Now that you've given us a great feature, it's being used a lot, and that has exposed the bug. As for the bug, a very easy solution is just to back up by hitting the skip back 2-3 times. I've occasionally tried a single hit but it sometimes doesn't work, so always use 2-3 times now.

Whatever the reason I doubt anyone is pointing the finger at your patching. Someone mentioned that 3.16 had been pulled, but I just checked now and it's still online.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers

So you don't have to pay magictv $$ to get something they could have put up online.

Please don't download it if you don't really need it..

to clarify,   i do not think it was the patch, just the fact we are able to ffd in different increments now that may have exposed the issue that was pre existing.   When i went to download the other day only 3.15 was there  , looks like 3.16 is there now..  keep up the good work Ian the system is now 10x better thanks to you ...
