silverlake: Well those of you who don't have an Aurora Irdeto card so that you can get SBS off Optus C1 (for the next 18 months) missed one of the best episodes of Rockwiz tonight. However you will be able to get it from www.sbs.com.au/rockwiz and you won't need to use a VPN.

I tried out Rockwiz and it workded on demand. But I have problems with the news and movies. Maybe it is only for Asutralian viewers or not available 24/7?

Not sure why they're blocking access to SBS news, but for international content like movies, Coast, Mythbusters etc, they won't have the broadcast rights beyond Australia. They seem quite happy to foster international interest in Rockwiz.

If you want to start downloading lots of stuff then a VPN is probably the best bet.... although you could go to The Pirate Bay.

The message which appears is typically: "Selected content is unavailable".

I use Astrill on my XP computer and have no issues playing SBS programmes.  Hope it stays that way!

Thankyou silverlake,

I would like to get channel nine for the NRL (does IMPARJA come in)? and ABC but if this
requires heavy gear receiving SBS and Central Seven would be great.

What are the technicals of your LNB please? Do I need a prime focus specific LNB?

Hi Whitiboy,
I'm getting SBS and Central 7 from Optus C1/Aurora with a 60cm offset dish and a Digitlink LNB
L.O: 11300MHz Ku band
Input Frequency: 12.25 - 12.75GHz
Output Frequency: 950 - 1450MHz
The dish package that I'm using is the same as this auction;
http://www.trademe.co.nz/electronics-photography/tvs/satellite-receivers/auction-472451873.htm
I'm using an Openbox S10 STB with the Aurora card.

I don't know what kit you would need to access the Optus C1 transponders broadcasting NA and NB beams, but if you can lock onto them using your prime focus dish, then you may as well try to get a VAST STB and card from Ebay in Australia.

Thankyou silverlake,

great info. I'll try and lock on to the VAST beams first and go from there.

I will be interested to know how you go with the call to aussie on sbs.

I think some of the ABC and/or SBS channels are unencrypted on the Vast services .

Will be quite sorry to see this go if it has indeed gone for good. Having SBS removed the sting of TVNZ7 being shut down, and, was the best source for "interesting" shows in our house. What I find strange is I can't see any reference to having to retune the channel for the people it is meant for which I find quite strange. Am very interested to see what the outcome of the phone call is...

I checked the Lynstat info page for Optus D1... no change.. SBS Tasmainia is still listed at NZ and oz.. but its not a real time info page.

If SBS was moving its satilite service you would expect to find some evidence of it somewhere.

Just called the SBS 1800 number and told them I had lost access via Optus D1.
They immediately asked if I was in New Zealand, and then said that I would have to contact Optus and that it was out of their hands.

Called Optus and got a bloke who is trying to find someone who can tell us what is going on. I gave my email address to the cutomer services bloke, he said he would get back to me.
