As the response to the new TVworks channel 3+1 seems to have been luke warm to say the best; and it would appear that TVworks does not have any new content to bring to our screens, would it be possible to negotiate with them to relieve them of their obligations to another channel by early 2010, and give it to another operator who could provide something different?

I think most people would feel that they need 4+1 like a hole in the head!

It's one of the most half-ass decisions I've heard of for a long time...

everyone I've told has just laughed and scoffed and asked "why?" etc

I hve a mate whos just purchased a freeviewHD built in Sony bravia TV, and he says he cannot find the sky channel or the prime channel but only the freeview built in channels.

Any reasons and solution to this problem of his?

Surely he would be putting his Sky stuff via a AV port like Svideo??

What will happen after ASO in regions that don't currently receive DVB-T? Will the existing analogue transmitters be replaced with DVB-T, or will they be decommissioned completely?

What will happen after ASO in regions that don't currently receive DVB-T? Will the existing analogue transmitters be replaced with DVB-T, or will they be decommissioned completely?

There are already plans to extend DVB-T coverage from 75% population to 87% population. These plans rely on funding from the government to proceed.

There are no plans at this stage to provide DVB-T coverage to the remaining 13% - this is where the DVB-S platform steps in to provide 100% coverage to the rest of the country.

From a selfish perspective, 87% should cover me. I'm in Whakatane and could pick up HD from Te Aroha. I've since moved to the other end of town and there's now a hill in the way, but as long as it ends up on Mt Edgecumbe I'll have it again.
