TV4 in HD would be nice but would we want it if it meant a decline in TV3's broadcast quality and a loss of HQ audio? The bandwidth going to TV4 would need to increase from where it is now and those megabits would have to come from somewhere.
Considering that they will be shifting more shows to four that I want to see, I would happily see 3 go back to SD if needed since four will have the bulk of desirable content on it.

If TVNZ can fit two 1080i channels + two 576i channels on one mux then surely Mediaworks can do it too. The rumour was that TVNZ was going to add AC3 audio too, so could we have our cake and eat it too? I don't notice any major quality difference between TVNZ's 1080i and TV3's...

The 1080i channels are on a Sky Mux and there is more than two channels on TVNZ's Freeview Mux, TVNZ 6 and TVNZ 7 are on there too plus the multiple feeds of TV One

Not satilite, DVB-T is what most people care about, - what sky do on their transponders is up to them, but till there is some HD of four, they cant carry it.
The linked screenshots might be of interest to some of you. I took them about 5 minutes ago. I guess you can draw your own conclusions on whether Mediaworks has enough capacity to make FOUR HD. Money is another story...
