New channels are now loading as 160 and 161 but on my TV I need to manually enter the number, using up/down doesn't work.

Now with 1080i Video and AAC Audio, plus an EIT EPG.

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

How did you find those channels if you need to manually enter the channels?

800-803 on my Panasonic TV, and they do show up in the channel list/guide - but no EPG for me. Sky Tower signal is live and strong on 610Mhz.

I love to see Maori TV run an extra SD channel like a clone of the the popular Jones channels with classic old shows, call it "BRO!" or something. A bit like 7Mate.....

Nothing new but I bet it would easily out rate TE Reo

Looks like the hidden HD test channels are now carrying a simulcast of Maori TV and Te Reo (previously it was a promo) - might not be long now until they take their place in the official lineup.

Picking them up here in the Manawatu on 160 and 161 on both my TV's freeview setup and the TVHeadend DVB-T box. On 610Mhz for anyone locally who can't find it.

Is it just me or is signal a little weaker and lower quality than the other transmitters?

  • MediaWorks (52 dBuV, 40 dB)
  • TVNZ (51 dBuV, 34 dB)
  • Kordia (49 dBuV, 28 dB)
  • World TV (51 dBuV, 26 dB)
  • Maori TV (42 dBuV, 20 dB)

(Wharite, Manawatu)

Channels 160 and 161 are now loading as SD test patterns. Maori TV and Te Reo are both still SD.. I wonder where the HD tests went?

the 4 channels have just gone live in the past few days down here in Dunedin.

Interesting to note that Maori Television is using MBAFF instead of Progressive or Interlaced. Mediainfo

it was peaking at 10Mbit while HD content was displayed, this was just a quick recording to get a mediainfo.

I'm still just getting 2 test channels here in Lower Hutt - is it still 4 test channels in Dunedin, or has the 'Official' channels (5 for Maori TV & 24 for Te Reo) gone HD?
