So on reading this

Freeview launches set to transform TV

Does this mean that the T2200 is now old stock and is being replaced with this new machine, or will the T2200 have the firmware updated to have the new Freeview On Demand service?

I ask because I am just about to purchase a T2200 and I would sooner wait for the new set top box to ensure I get the latest features.

Looks as if the T2200 will do most of that new stuff - they are just replacing FreeviewPlus with Freeview on Demand on HbbTV.

It does sound like these new boxes might have Netflix/Lightbox etc. which will be good.

Hopefully they have a decent remote.

I sure hope the T2200 will be updated as I am one of those TiVo users whose box support will end at the end of the month hence buying a T2200 last week.

That article does say this:

The new Freeview On Demand platform will be available across all new and existing smart TVs released since 2015, HbbTV-capable set top boxes and recorders connected to both broadband internet and a TV antenna (satellite dish or UHF aerial).

Yes - but I assume that that will be by firmware upgrade and some manufacturers will not provide an upgrade - and is the T2200 Hbb-TV capable?

HbbTV stands for Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TVand it's the standard that FreeviewPlus is based on. What it means in practical terms is that you can get both standard broadcast free-to-air (FTA) TV and IPTV services all in one place.

Yes

@joshhill96 I've had a T2200 for over a week now and is working really well.  If there's a major software update in the wind I'd like to add one new feature to the wish list:

Keyword search for recording.  This is a feature Panasonic has with their set top box where to record a series you can add a keyword (series title or part title etc..) and anytime this keyword appears in the EPG the episode/series will record regardless of channel.  Example "NCIS Los Angeles" is self explanatory but a just having "NCIS" would record the original series, Los Angeles and New Orleans which are spread over two different networks.  This could negate having to set up a new series link each time a new season starts and potentially missing it if you weren't aware it was on.

There are a number of other nice to have features as already outlined in this thread however as a retiring TiVo user, keyword search recording would be the biggest for me.  Obviously if other VOD services were added (Netflix, Neon, Lightbox etc...) that would be great so we're not held to ransom by "Smart TV" manufacturers who abandon support for their own apps after a couple of years.

So I'm about 99% sure that last weekend I went through and set up a bunch of series records, to mirror what we had set on the Tivo.  However, when I checked the library today, not all of the shows appear to have recorded during the week (although some definitely did).  The schedule shows this week's episodes for all the programs, but I'm concerned that some won't actually record again.  Is there any 'log' that shows a failed recording?

Edit to add: doesn't appear to be restricted to a certain channel, with some shows on 1,2,3 missed.

One of my series links stopped working for coronation st.

I deleted the series link and re linked and it seems ok now.

Its only recording on the main channels as well not the + channel.

LOOKING FOR REPEAT EVENT, LOOKING FOR REPEAT EVENT,  etc..

Hello, Ive switched to the T2200 from TIVO, & so far its looking good. however i'm getting more & more  instances where the Series cannot be found & i get the above message - it cant find any more instances of that programme even though the TV guide / EPG shows more. Usually the name is spelt with an extra comma, or no comma & the series guide isnt picking up the next episode.

i have found out how to go to the guide & start to record a programme when i know in advance it is on, with the FULL name of the show. But is there a way to find programmes based on PARTIAL NAMES.

Examples:

- The Big Bang Theory:  LOOKING FOR REPEAT EVENT

- All New The Big Bang Theory: LOOKING FOR REPEAT EVENT

Is there a way on the T2200 to look for "Big bang" and it will pick up any episode that has that in the title. Small or BIG letters ?  instead of finding the exact name via the EPG guide

EDIT, Now ive found the next episode & added it in.  in my schedule I now have THREE - with 2 of the names are exactly the same

- All New The Big Bang Theory: LOOKING FOR REPEAT EVENT

- The Big Bang Theory:  LOOKING FOR REPEAT EVENT

 - The Big Bang Theory:  30th October etc....

We bought a new T2200 to replace our TIVO :-(

I was very hopeful until the following events within a week of buying it from the Warehouse.

- While watching programme on TV1, the sound went off - only video no audio. Changed channel, but remote unresponsive. Turned off at wall and re-booted. Great.., or so I thought.

- The following day, same thing happened again open TV3, changed channel or tried to, but went to a blank screen. :(. So turn off at the wall and re-booted. Great...except that...

- The same thing happened on a number of occasions in the last few days. Also loss of picture has happened, and the ability to change channel has also happened. Frozen remote and no changes can been made at the unit.

I have seek similar remarks about the unit in other reviews (Noel Leeming website and Harvey Norman reviews).

I am hoping that I’ve got a dud unit, and will be asking for a replacement from Warehouse today or tomorrow. Then I will pressure test the unit for another 7-10 days to see if the same happens.

I would welcome anyone’s thoughts on what is causing this to happen. My poor TIVO only missed a beat a couple of times over the 5 years or so we owned it. Sigh........

If the unit has been sitting in store it may not have the latest firmware?

Try checking that?

Same problems here! I have the latest update. I was beginning to think it was only our box which Is now over a year old.

The last update was in June and I was hoping Dish would do another one. It's a most irritating problem. Fortunately I have a TV that will pick up Freeview, otherwise I would be very, very frustrated!

The only thing I've not done is a factory reset because this also clears the future schedules and then they have to be reprogrammed.
