Ok, so have been monitoring my usage graph lately, due to having hit our data cap on the 12th (Thursday last week). As soon as we hit the cap, the throttling went to a point where the speed both up/down was actually dropping out if I tried to open more than a couple of webpages, and couldn't even load Speedtest and where my computer could barely load a basic web-hosted manga (simple images, nothing else much on the page- all flash/multimedia ads blocked, etc).

The reason I mention this is that somehow despite having that incredible limitation on the speed, in the very few hours I was home and online yesterday (was out for the majority of the day for a CT scan and for a long walk with the dog) I managed to tot up ~25GB DL and nearly 20GB UL? Given the speeds, and the fact I'd given up on loading anything bar the most basic of webpages (no Steam, no Youtube, I don't stream or anything) this doesn't quite seem right.

Added to this is the fact that I know last night, during the "uncapped nights" period (1am-7am) I was torrenting some files from a team-mate of mine for a project, due to the filesize (several gigs at least of unity files and assetts) and patched several of my steam games (another few gigs). Yet if you look at the graph below, there's nothing for last night- heck, nothing for the past couple of weeks showing up in the Uncapped Nights bar of the graph, even though I know for a fact I've been online during that period nearly every night(it's when i often do most of my gaming to limit data usage).
Does anyone have any clue as to whether there's something up with 2D's uncapped nights at the moment (because that might explain us suddenly chewing 40gig in a day and quite so much on days where the net's only been used in that time) or whether something's just seriously messed up with the graph creation?
Any help/ideas would be appreciated guys.

Hi,

You are not alone. We have had a lot of unusual usage lately am are now capped as a result. Not really sure exactly where it has gone so have swapped out the fritz box with an older e3000 with tomato on it to gather per device usage to narrow it down for the future.
What I can confirm though is that I have been charged for off peak usage against my peak usage since the 2nd which has put me over.

It's quite painful browsing the net at the capped rate.

That's interesting.. Note the fact that both of graphs suddenly have our uncapped nights drop to zero suddenly on the 2nd.. And then our "normal" useage balloons.
EDIT: Even more evidence of something wrong- I know for a fact that I went to bed just before uncapped nights started, checked the usage which said we'd only used 2GB of our 40gb extra data we purchased (because the connection was too damn slow)...and i also know that my brother was online last night during the uncapped period, gaming, and yet if you look at the updated graph this morning (posted below)...it says we've somehow used 10GB Download today? AND the data limit says we've somehow used 13GB of that extra data we purchased. My brother is still asleep (when I woke up at about 5 he was asleep, so he wasn't online after uncapped period ended this morning) and I only just got online, so where did that 10GB usage suddenly come from? My computer was off until I posted this..

I'm glad I'm not the only one trying to get them to fix this problem,

I have contacted them many times over the last week about it and heard nothing back about it.

I have phoned them sent them tweets ( https://twitter.com/2degreesmobile/status/664978201668673536 ) and got nothing.

They don't seem to believe its a problem... the best thing is it is effecting the University of Canterbury's prepay internet.

This is my old 'Snap homeplan" which in last months cycle stopped counting "free youtube" and "uncapped nightly" downloads from the 2nd shown in this picture https://i.imgur.com/9qyiDMo.png

I called 2 degrees and said it was broken and they didn't believe me saying all they could do was trust i was telling the truth and give me free data to get through the month.

when my account rolled over the "free youtube" and "uncapped nightly" completely despaired from the graph all together as shown in this picture

https://i.imgur.com/DaXSlK1.png I called them again and they extended my 300GB cap to 400GB to account for the "free youtube" being counted and again didn't believe me when i said it was broken.

I talked to some of my friends about the issue at the University of Canterbury and they said the prepay was very broken. ( https://i.imgur.com/xabQERs.png )

They said their data meters were still counting but not cutting them off... as shown in this picture https://i.imgur.com/S8XXIut.png

If you pay attention to the total used and the total amount from the topup you can see they have gone over their cap and into "unlimited negative" ( from the old days https://i.imgur.com/jDVfE0x.png )

Yeah, I've emailed their support team and linked them to this forum thread. It's pretty obvious somethings wrong when it's not just one account but multiple accounts that are hitting what seems to be the exact same issue, starting from around the same time..
EDIT: Tweeted to them with a tinyurl'd version of the link to this thread too. Hoping they'll pick up on it

I previously had the uncapped nights option before moving to unlimited. Up until the 2nd of November the uncapped nights still showed up on the usage graph. Matches up with others in this thread.

There's almost always upload traffic on the line, some of which used to get counted as off peak. Doesn't appear to be the case any more for what ever reason. The amount measured appears correct.

I just rang up and talked to them about it. They appear to be aware of the issue and have given me extra data to tide me over. Was going to tell them about their phone server sending through time 1 hour out which changes the time on our phone to non daylight savings time, however, was cut off as they restarted the data.

They're aware of the issue, but haven't sent out a broadcast mail to let users know they may run into it? That seems..sketchy

Knowing that 2 degrees have no capacity to reliably track data, is there a possibility some people could abuse it?

Hi Everyone,

We are aware that there is an issue with the usage tracker on some connection types at the moment, our development team is investigating this at present.

If you do get capped because of this, please call the team on 0800 022 022 opt 2, and they'll be able to assist.

Once we have an update to provide, we'll let you know here.

Thanks

Seems that the issue has been resolved as of last night. I rang 2degrees this morning to get a credit for the period of usage that was incorrectly attributed to normal usage instead of *uncapped* and the CSR didn't have much of a clue about it. I had to spell it out but she eventually got the jist of the problem and was happy to credit me some extra usage to cover the shortfall I will have this month.

Hi everyone,

Quick update, I've been advised that Unlimited Nights accounting has been corrected. Student Prepay accounting is still being checked out at the moment.

Thanks,

Ralph can you confirm the "Free Youtube" metering has been fixed?

i think that windows update is currently being metered too? Also is traffic between 2degrees customers supposed to be metered?

Hi Bman,

Free Youtube metering was being metered as normal, just not plotted on the usage graph, that has been corrected with this morning's update. All other traffic is being metered correctly.

Thanks,

Ralph ^JOB

That would explain the 60gb of data I had no idea where it went.

I assumed it was a stuck update or something.
