This may well be covered elsewhere, but I cannot find the answer - how do we get the voicemail button working on the iphone4 with 2 degrees?

Cheers

http://www.iphonewzealand.co.nz/2010/all/voicemail-button-on-iphone-and-xt-with-a-v3-simmicrosim/

hmmm - tried that and it connected me to the 'message exchange' and asked for a mailbox number - this isn't 2degrees voicemail is it?

That is SMSC not voicemail.

The XT article says to dial *5005*86*083210#

083210 is what you dial for XT voicemail so would recommend trying for 2degrees:

*5005*86*+64222022002# (international format)

if that doesn't work try

*5005*86*0222022002# (local format)

actually just got it sorted - only need to use 202, not the full number, so it's:

*5005*86*202#

cheers!

Maybe I don't have the right type of SIM but I am on 2degrees and tried the number above and I get "Setting Succeeded, Service Center Address, No Addrees"

Still get the call your service provider message, any ideas?

Thanks n4, you beat me to it! I was just about to post try dialing -

*5005*86*+64222022002#

That gives you the ability to check your voicemail when you're abroad.

Great tip, thanks.

Just in case anyone missed the point, setting it as "202" means it will only work in NZ, the best bet is to set it to +64222022002 so that it will work while roaming overseas too.

From http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=85&topicid=73314&page_no=1#416078

SaltyNZ: You should call +64222022001 while roaming. 2002 should be translated to 2001, but it doesn't work from all networks. You will need to enter your number and PIN. It's not possible to make it seamless while roaming because international networks don't reliably send us CLI, so you might end up somewhere unexpected. :)
