found a Google Analytics email in my gmail spam folder today, you would think Google would already have some system in place to stop this? obviously not lol.

The filter learns from your activity, if you have marked a Google analytic email in the past then it will be moved to spam. Just because it is a legit email doesn't mean some people don't consider it spam.

It's about the sender as much it is about you. If you mark Geekzone forum notifications as spam, Google will start sending those to your spam folder. After a while it might start doing it for others too.

You have to go to the spam folder and click "This is not spam" to get things back to normal.

Also I never treat an email I've subscribed as spam - if I don't want to receive these anymore I just unsubscribe. I know that if I treat something *I SUBSCRIBED TO BEFORE* as spam will hurt someone's business.

IMO if google were to do anything to prevent their own mails going into spam it would set off all those whiners that want to meddle with how google do business because the spam folder bypass wasnt available to them.

I haven't changed any settings in my gmail account, everything still default from when I signed up.  Ive only marked a new spam emails as not spam and that's about it, havent marked anything as spam. so was just a bit confused as to how a google analytics email ended up in the spam folder.

I subscribed to a web forum recently and started a few topics. I got the first few reply notifications then weird things started happening. I was getting notifications from some topics I had posted to but not others.

After reading the OP I checked the gmail spam folder and the missing notifications were there.

Checking further I have some PBTech mails in there (the Diablo 3 special offer) and at least one from Amazon.com. Reviewing more will be a pita, but it has to be done.

My guess is something in the GMAIL spam filter algorithm has changed.

Everyone check your spam folder.

Also including a 10% off discount code offer from a website I regularly purchase from, and I just spent $200 there without knowing. Thank you very much Google.

I found lots in the spam filter which I was previously receiving ok. Mail from Visa special offers, Google Apps, and a few more.

It looks like Google have tightened several algorithms. It will be time consuming but there is no alternative - I will need to check my gmail spam filter every day.
