Ok I know this might sound a bit backwards, but my work laptop has USB2 and ESATA ports, but no USB3.

Given the price drop in USB3 HDs I'd really like to be able to use the ESATA port on my T410s rather than suffer USB 2 performance.

Has anyone seen an adapter for this on dealextreme or elsewhere?

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

why don't you just use an hdd in a case that has e-sata?

e.g. http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=CASICZ940J&name=WELLAND-ME940J-2.5-SATA-to-USB2-eSATA-ENCLOSURE-BL

esata is better than usb3 in my experience

I have a 500GB HD in an ESATA Case.

2 Issues

1. I can't source larger than 1 TB drives at the moment.

2. I have to use a second USB port to power the ESATA case.

I'm going to try and pick up a powered ESATA cable to deal with (2) but at the moment you can get 1.5 TB USB 3.0 drives for quite a good price.

you can always just get a USB3 adaptor for the t410s - I have one of these for my t510 (I apparently didn't get the esata/usb combo port on my laptop):

the only problem is that they stick out a bit so you don't leave them in all the time.

The t410 has an express cards slot, the t410s doesn't.
