Hi guys, I am working for a software company, which is currently thinking about cooperating with MobileIron (or possibly AirWatch) by creating a platform that allows users to more easily acquiring apps. At this point we would like to figure out the key steps a user goes through to obtain the apps via MobileIron. For example a user will need to filed out some blanks like app names, link locations, department he/she works for and etc. Our purpose is to create another app that simplifies this process. Knowing what exactly a user needs to do on MobileIron will enable us to achieve sending files to a system from a secondary system therefore accomplish the goal.

Anyone knows how it works? Even a few words will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you guys!

I use Airwatch right now and have used Mass360 from fiberlink as an MDM solution. In both products from an admin point of view on the server itself, I am able to type the name of the app which is in the app store and have the option to push it to either all devices on the server or selected. Once I push it through, the devices are configured with an custom app store where the user gets a notification that this is an recommended app that the admin wants you to install. It's totally up to the device user to install the app once they get the notification.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Thank you for the reply.

I have some additional detail to help answer my original question. My company is building a tool that allows people to create apps and we'd like to give users a "one click publish" to MDM products like Mobile Iron and AirWatch. I'm wondering if there's a way to connect the two systems to make this possible. For example, is there specific data we need to send with the app file to Mobile Iron or AirWatch?
A use case would be:

1. I create my app in my creation tool.
2. When I'm done I click a "publish" button.
3. The app is automatically saved up to the MDM.
4. The MDM administrator can use the normal process for that MDMD to deploy it to users.

Hope this time it is less confusing..

So this time i am asking from an administrator's perspective instead of a user's. It's more about how to publish an app than how to download it. Sorry about being a little backwards...
