We currently have a domain with crazydomains.com.au and they are a nightmare to deal with.

Anyone know of any other place that I can host that will allow me to make dns changes via a web portal?

What is the .com.au process to transfer the domain? With .nz domains I can move the domains using a UDAI.

You mean domain registrar? I thought they all did everything via the web.

I use four different ones, but none in Australia. I can help with US, UK, and NZ.

You could try http://www.melbourneit.com.au who actually also own http://www.domainz.net.nz. Domainz may well be able to advise you on the Australian transfer process.

You need a registry key, which I have recovered.

www.domains4less.com.au

You transfer domains with an auth key similar to the process for .NZ.

disclosure: I work at Web Drive which owns D4L.
