You can now pick which folders you want to sync on a machine. By default this option is turned off. You will need to go into SkyDrive settings in the app and select the folders you wish to download to a new machine.

You can download SkyDrive from below link to manually update old install or wait for your client to be updated.

Installed earlier today. I still having figured out how smarty the application is when it comes to restoring data lost after a fresh install for example...

Move Documents to under the Skydrive folder
Sync everything to cloud
Fresh install

Here comes the thing: you can only use an empty folder for Skydrive when doing an install. Skydrive will start downloading everything then - unless you select the folder you want to sync.

At this point we can restore Documents from a local backup, and then enable sync for that folder again.

Will Skydrive recognise the files are already in the cloud, or try to upload everything again? Or will it duplicate (as Live Sync used to do?)

Oh thank God for that!

Finally getting to be a really good DB replacement. Now I just need some of my apps to integrate with SD as well as DB and I'll be set!

But we still can't sync folders outside of the Skydrive structure? (ie photos stored on a separate drive)

Yes, that's still a downside. I'd rather sync my folders without having to move them

I use junction link hack to do this. Have also read somewhere that if you create a shortcut of a folder in your computer and copy that shortcut over to SkyDrive app, it does the trick as well.

I've heard that junction links work for the initial sync, but then they fail to keep any further changes up to date. Haven't tried the shortcut option yet

I tried junction Links. They either didn't work because SkyDrive complained the folder was incorrectly setup or didn't work because of something else. Either way, didn't work for me.

Shortcut method just creates a shortcut.lnk file on Skydrive, no folder structure preserved :(
