I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I can always move it. I can't stand the place i'm working in and I really want to leave, But I can't leave until I get another job. So does anyone know of any jobs available besides the advertised jobs on this site I have already looked at those. I have 6 years development experience in VBA, VB .NET, C#, Javascript and PHP. I have also setup and administered an email/Database/File server.

What is it about your job you don't like? What do you want in a new workplace? What is your single best quality?

You are not going to have any trouble finding another job. What kind of work do you want to do?

1. It is a very negative environment people regularly yell and scream at each other and also constantly abuse each other which they seem to think is OK, But I do not consider this behavior to be acceptable.

2. A good work environment where people are friendly and respectful. I would also like to have input as to how things are done.

3. When some one asks me to do something I will go to great lengths to try and make it happen even if it is something I have  never done before I will figure it out and try to give them as close to what they asked for as I can possible manage.

I would prefer development work I have setup and maintained an email server and a database server neither of which was particularly excited work so yeah development work preferably.

Negative environment is a killer. No reason to work there.

Last question, where geographically do you want to work?

I'm not familiar with Wellington. But, six years development experience you will not have a problem finding another position. Make some time to call up several agents advertising jobs in your field you might be interested in and have a chat with them about your experience and what you are looking for. Agents often deal with companies who are thinking about hiring, or will present an available candidate where they know there is a need, effectively unadvertised positions.

There should be heaps of demand for asp.net and php web developers in Wellington, have you tried seek.co.nz, trademe jobs, contacting recruitment agents?

I have tried all of the above and I am still having no luck. My experience doesn't seem to count for much. Is there anything else I try that anyone can think of.

Which recruitment agencies have you contacted so far? How did the interviews with the agents go? Did they say you needed to work on anything?
