I am having an issue with Outlook and the way it handles IMAP with Gmail (Bloody Outlook)

The main issue that I am having is that a user that is creating folders and placing emails within them.  These e-mails and folders are not being recreated on gmail.

What I get from MS is to recreate the profiles and start again but then it only works for a week then we are back to square one.

Does anyone have an idea on what could be done to resolve this issue?

For best integration either use Gmail native apps (i.e. Gmail Offline on Chrome) or switch to Office 365 for better support with Outlook.

If you have a business account with Google, have you tried G Suite Sync for Microsoft Outlook?

What kind of issues? G Suite Sync seems reliable to me - use with three accounts in family, all using Outlook as the email client. Main reason is because IMAP won't sync Contacts, Calendar...

G Suite really works best online in Chrome. It's hard to get users who are very used to Outlook to start using the web client for sure. It took me months to be convinced that I didn't need Outlook anymore.

  1. A lot of that has to do with users changing the sort order of displayed mails.
  2. Also, people wanting their folders
  3. My personal pet peeve, you can only apply one label when using automatic filters.

Otherwise, I do have to agree with you.

  1. You have a web browser available on every computer making your email truly accessible from anywhere. You have Outlook only on one computer
  2. Corrupt PSTs - Final word!!!

If you use G Sync it stores data in OST files. Wife's email is about 15GB and never had problems. Whatever you do never store a PST or OST on a network drive.

I see your one statistic point and raise it by three. I've seen corruption on larger files and a restore was the only option.  Previously, the limit was 2GB and KB articles mentioned that above that limit corruption was more likely and performance issues could be experienced. My point is more about having a recovery option available if you are using large PST / OST files.

Fully agree

Thanks Guys,

With G Sync its now giving me an error on a unit about having a sending issue of course I cannot correct it without doing the whole profile.  I think the profile in question is 4GB+,  However I have come across a strange issue of that one of the other staff members have access to the folders that are not syncing to another staff members computer however they are not showing 120% on GMail.

They do want the IMAP functionality as its multi staff members using the one box but they also want the contacts, calendars functionality and they also use infusionsoft too

In general .....
If you want reliability with Imap, outlook isnt the best choice
Can also have issues with the email host's systems & clients slow internet speeds causing issues with imap syncs
Ive also seen issues with 365 & Outlook , email sync issues due to slow DSL & 30G to sync
So huge amounts of stored email & slow internet is another factor to consider.
On one site, the only way to get reliable email in Outlook was to ditch imap & revert to pop3 (God help me)

I dont think you will  sync/share Outlook calendars, contacts with imap , without some 3rd party addon's
