I have a customer using the old legacy free Google Suite accounts - firstly he seems to be able to have upto 100 accounts which is weird since I thought it was limited to 5 but anyways..  Hes using Outlook 2016 and connecting to it via POP.  He also has it on his iphone setup as a normal gmail account as far as I know.  Hes receiving all the emails on his phone without any issues but its skipping quite a few on Outlook all of a sudden.  Its been perfectly fine for years up until a few weeks ago.  I decided reset his email settings in outlook, reset the pop connection in gmail so it wouldnt download a crapload of old emails and whilst its working its still skipping quite a few.

It seems to mainly skip ones that come in overnight yet they are still unread on his phone and on the gmail app.

Anyone got any suggestions?  I was thinking I could make a new profile and just set it up using imap.  I doubt at this point he'll be willing to pay the $6US/mo since he has around 10 accounts.

Not sure but I would suggest you check the mail settings on the iPhone as I suspect that is the culprit, sounds to me like the iPhone is "stealing" the emails before Outlook gets wind of them.

Try turning recent mode on if he must use POP.

Would be better to setup IMAP on the computer if that was an option.

I have had one recently where 2 factor auth & app specific password had to be used for a 'normal' mail client to POP the mail.

Added in recent: into the username and that seems to have fixed it for now. Will see how it goes. I suspect its his phone doing it, will wait and see!

Why not setup phone and computer to both use IMAP? I've never used POP on Gmail so not sure if they have a different way of running it, but I can only imagine using POP is going to cause more problems with emails not being where they need to be.

It's been running pop since before I came along, the boss is basically if it isn't broken...... I've discussed switching multiple times but in the end it's good choice. It's working atm. Next time I'm there I'll see how he's got his phone set.
