Update of BIOS on addition of 2nd CPU

I've added a second Xeon 5335 to an Intel S5000XVN motherboard and it growled and beeped a lot upon booting. The error log for the BIOS showed that the microcode could not be updated for the CPU.

I think it's just a matter of updating the BIOS to support the newer stepping of the second CPU. But I've never done this on a dual CPU board before. The update package has BIOS, BMC and FRU updates. This is a new one for me and I'm asking if there is anything to watch out for when I perform these updates.

The other issue is that it wants a DOS prompt. I have made boot CDs with Caldera on but they never accept a USB keyboard. I have access to PS2 keyboard. Should I just use the PS2 keyboard or is there a bootable DVD image which is more modern and actually works with USB keyboards (would by handy outright)

I'm checking intels support website for your board and it appears to me that there is a Windows based utility for updating your BIOS/Firmware:

Thanks for info. The OS is Linux Redhat of which I am not familiar with which is why I went for the DOS based flash utility.
