Not initially, but being a public transport user it means a much lower availability of seats - would be better to not go back at all.

Not me!
Covid ultimately presented me a new opportunity. Was supposed to start a job on March 30. That got pulled just before then so I was left unemployed. Spent most of level 4 job searching. Couple of weeks ago started a role where I now work remotely (from home full time). I shall not miss the lost couple of hours in Auckland's traffic system each day. I count myself very lucky for many other reasons too.
I hope that many NZ companies, especially IT companies, have learned that people can be productive anywhere. I know my previous employer could not see that and I highly doubt they have changed that view even through this.

My wife is working from home until at least the end of June. My office is at home.
Twitter staff have been told they can now work from home forever, most of the other big name tech companies have told staff they can work from home until late this year.
I'm continuing to work from home and hoping to make that virtually permanent. I do not miss wasting hours of my life each day in a car or on a train.

Ge0rge: Haven't left... Friday I finally get to go home and see my wife after seven weeks apart.

I've been back at work since Level 3... or atleast at my workplace. Working in the events industry means I can't work from home, and there's little work to do at work. We'll have the tidiest workshop in NZ in a few weeks though... Pity I'll likely be almost unemployed too...

You may legally be "a person intending to work" under the ERA - if you would like to consult an employment lawyer.
everettpsycho: I've been more productive the last 6 weeks than I'd been in the office earlier this year as people can't wander over and ask inane questions all the time.
This.. SO SO SO much this...

I had a signed contract that was reneged on. I could totally "go legal" and would have an extremely strong case. Having found work quickly, and not being in a difficult financial position thankfully, I don't believe it is worth the effort for me. I did weigh it up though...of course.
