Hey Guys,
I'm looking at signing up to Microsoft Volume Licensing using the "Open Subscription" Model. We have previously used OEM + Action Pack however our business is getting too large and we need to have a better, more organized system.

Looking at Microsoft NZ's website I have to go through a partner? Is there no way to just have an account directly with Microsoft or is there something I'm missing?

Where are you based? Might be best to contact your local Microsoft sales rep. If in Christchurch/South Island, I can suggest/refer the key person that I know of.

all microsoft volume licensing and open subscription licensing go through a distributor, as far as i know. such as ingram micro or express data. microsoft is NZ isnt really a direct sales outfit

We are in Auckland. OK so it sounds like I should be going to a distributor, is it just a matter of ringing up Ingram Micro etc. and say taht I want to sign up to Volume Licensing? Will I still get to amange all my licensing via the central Microsoft Volume Licensing website? That's probably one of the biggest sellers for me.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure new lease and express data are your only options, or maybe that only applies to SPLA.

That's for SPLA. Ingram can do MVL, as well as Acquire and the like.

if you dont already have an account with Ingram, and you're not a reseller, then you'll probably not get far. You will need to contact a reseller instead of a distributor.

OK any recommendations on a good reseller in the Auckland area? Basically I am only wanting this to sign up for volume licensing. Why is it so hard?!

Basically, just avoid the LARs (they're for organisations of sizes much larger than yours) and any one of those should be able to help you.

Bear in mind, this is just the companies that sell licensing directly from Microsoft that have licensing competency.
