Hi There!

Can you guys recommend a good N WAP, that has excellent reception, isn't too expensive (Pref under $200) and plays nicely with routers/etc.

Heya:

Your support ticket has been logged, I will be answering your question today.

I would personally recommend the WRT54GL (http://ascent.co.nz/productspecification.aspx?ItemID=345759) or the WRT120N (http://ascent.co.nz/productspecification.aspx?ItemID=9382368)

Both routers offer excellent range, the WRT54GL offers a advantage and that's being opensource and able to accept custom firmware such as Tomato or DD-WRT - it's not 802.11n though so keep that in mind.

If you _need_ 802.11n go for the WRT120N, it's cheap, and has quite a few features, plus very reliable.

If you don't need 802.11n (if it's only for Internet) - get the WRT54GL, install Tomato, then you get yourself a pretty sweet router for only $120 complete with traffic logging, very good wireless performance, and Quality of Service so your downloads don't interfere with your Youtube or Skype.

I want something that will participate on the existing network without another network ip range being involved and having to do nat/ip forwarding and all that good stuff, which on the WRT120N would be bridge mode correct?

I would recommend giving it a static IP - then turning off DHCP on the new router.

If it's a large building, the WRT54GL + Tomato is a good choice, since you could buy another one later and boost / extend your wireless range. They also double as Wireless Clients if you wish to get Ethernet into that end room of your house :)

It's for my house (250m2) and I am streaming video over it, so I think the N is ideal.
