Morning Team,

Anyone here in the know with when Microsoft OneVision (on the fly video recognition) is likely to be released?

Or alternatively if anyone here knows of any potential projects utilising the software (if you able to discuss). Reason I am asking is that I am a physical security professional (debatable term to some - professional that is) and can see some huge potential in the algorithms and software, to be used in my industry.

Microsoft typically lag behind in specialist areas. For instance, Microsoft have been developing speech recognition products for a very long time (pre-95) but the performance of their products in this area when compared to the competition has always been lacking.

Also remember they tend to aim at end consumer needs, so real time video recognition and the API behind it is likely to be aimed at things like XBox and Movie Maker and will most likely not meet specialist needs for a very long time.

I totally agree, but there is still very little in the way of accessible 'real time' video recognition security software, that is inexpensive - relative term I know and easy to implement. Most of the stuff out there is very cutting edge stuff, but more in the realm of Law Enforcement / specialist security (airport security - anti terrorism etc.)

I'm interested in it because it presents possibilities for the start-ups or early stage ventures to get a hold of (what looks like a pretty impressive algorithm)for cheap to start developing solutions for oh I don't know.... retail sector, cost effective security for SMB's etc etc.

Thanks for the comment, just thought I would ask and see if anyone else is interested in the software...
