RedJungle: I've passed, I personally don't see .kiwi.nz becoming particularly relevant.

+1, personally i think its a waste of time, everyone wants .co.nz, its the name we all know.  nobody wants a .net.nz (therock.net.nz is the only domain i know who uses this).  .kiwi maybe, but .kiwi.nz wont really take off all that well (people want shorter domains not longer ones)

Which one do you remember

steve@email.kiwi.nz

or steve@email.net.nz

I think it has a lot of pulling power when compared to a lot of current nz 2ld's.  I also agree with an above poster who wants the matching .kiwi - together will be awesome!

if the user has to type in the email address and not reply or click a link, i suspect a lot of people will type in
steve@email.co.nz

also when going to the website, they would type in email.co.nz into the address bar (or just google it, which a lot of people do)

hmmm.. you could say they might do that with .com, .org, .net .... the list goes on.

The point I am making is that kiwi.nz is significantly different to any other 2ld, and as such I think it will be more successful than many here are suggesting

It had a 500 unit threshold on it which had to be reached before it went live.

It went live at mid day and you can now see .kiwi.nz web sites on the net!

I think .kiwi.nz will have as much relevance as .kiwi alone. I think it is good for personal use, such as if you have a blog or dircting to your facebook page etc. But I can't really see businesses using them, apart for promotional reasons. But it is good to have, and I think it is better/more usable than .geek.nz as a domain extension for the main population.

It will be as relevant as we as a New Zealand community choose to make it.

With a negative attitude towards it, I agree, it will become pointless.

I registered do.kiwi.nz because I see the potential value in using an email address such as @i.am.a.can.do.kiwi.nz in being something a bit different when talking on lists here and over seas.

To me, .kiwi.nz is about marketing New Zealand and the 'kiwi' icon we're already known for.

It looks like domain traders swooped in on .kiwi.nz. I may wait until .kiwi domains come in to buy one, as the one I wanted has already gone.

na, I think the interested community got in because they wanted to see .kiwi.nz go live.  There was a 500 min limit on it before it would happen and Donald would get his cash back that he put up to make it happen for us all.

I think the value is in the message when you get the email.

I agree, it's a joke if you're thinking of using it as your home email to order stuff on the phone...

Me:  "yes, that's d o n @ i 'dot' a m 'dot'..."
TelcoCSR: "sorry can you start that again... "

So not going to end well.

But I'm in the the technical mailing list space around the world and I see this as a great way to promote New Zealand in that space.
