Off the top of my head I would imagine it would take approx 20 to 24 hours to upload 8 gb of data and I would question whether the connection (at the moment home based business) could even maintain a solid connection for that amount of time.
I assume that the upload service connecting to CP allows for part uploads etc. It might be worth getting a trial account and trying it.

Once the initial backup is done, the rest are incremental, but only new or changed files are recopied.
As far as I understand nothing is deleted from the crashplan servers, ever. So even if you delete a file on your PC, it will always be available on the crashplan servers. Have never tried this out though, could be wrong.
As for Boerwors LOL. (just slightly off topic) Best is home made from friends. Otherwise Springbok Butchery in Tawa Wellington.
