I should probably give a clearer picture of my situation. I have been working for a boat dealer for the past 6 years building a number of programs for them as well as doing work on the website and providing technical support for there computers and network. I also have a condition called aspergers which you may have heard of which is the main reason I have difficulty getting work.

Ok, that's cool. How does your condition affect your work?

BoredNerd: Absolute IT and Go IT. They never actually gave me an interview.

I'm unfamiliar with those two agencies. There are many that specialise in a particular part of the market and are not very interested in people who are building a career or need to change direction. I would not give up there, you have probably found two of them and there are many.

I know a guy who fills positions similar to your own up here in Auckland. It is possible he co-operates with agents in Wellington - some of the smaller outfits have good connections like that. I'll PM you his details, he interviews on Skype frequently and it might be worth a chat in case he has connections.

It doesn't really affect my work it makes it difficult to talk to people 1 on 1 because I struggle to think of what to say. I,m reasonable ok when sending emails and stuff like that because I have time to think about what I want to say.

Is that like structured vs unstructured interaction?

Also I have to say, if you have been able to manage the typically conflicting demands of a typical small business environment then you must be doing quite well in managing your condition.

I suppose it is. When I am given a general question I struggle to think of what to say whereas if I am given a specific question I can usually answer it without to much trouble.

I find recruitment agencies in general to be useless. Not a single one I have ever tried has even got me an interview let alone a job.
