No change without the htaccess file

Forgot to mention it's a linux reseller account, so all the sites are on linux. I just get to slice the resources up between the sites. Nothing special.

[e] Yes, took a local copy and put it back again when there was no change.

Removed the change, cleared the cache....still a 500 error for both.

Hopefully you have some error logging on the web server, anything being thrown when access is attempted?

They are both back up again and it was simple :(

The reason I was looking at them this morning was because both 'owners' had been adding photos to their sites overnight. Both were within 90% of their allocations so I left it at that whilst being sidetracked by the 500 errors. I just gave both of them more disk space and they are both back working again.

Thanks everyone for your help, BinaryLimited especially.

I'm off to configure Pingdom and learn more about what I can do to monitor these sites.

Plus one for StatusCake, their free plan is one of the best I've used. Highly customisable with great free account limits.

I was hosted by JoneSolutions for over 3 years and was reasonably happy until the last 6 months or so. JS implement a 128m ram limit per account as well as limits on IO and file numbers. This was introduced a few years ago when they changed their platform to CloudLinux. I found that even a simple stock standard Wordpress install with a basic theme installed and only the default plugins was enough to overwhelm the account limits JS impose on all accounts (reseller or not).

I'm using local and remote installs of PRTG for system, website, and performance monitoring.

The free version gives you 10 sensors

Overloaded servers? Software problems on the servers? I have never heard of your host. Who recommended them to you?

Really ? They've just worked for me. Very slow to open the home page admittedly.

I chose JoneSolutions based on a couple of recommendations on here. I might have to review it though seeing this is the third time in three months there has been a problem.
