nakedmolerat: You manhood will return to you. In fact it may double or triple your manhood.

There are a certain male demographic out there who would find this news highly interesting. Perhaps then they'd leave the bloody rhinos alone.

KiwiNZ: What the heck is more or less manly?

A very worn out paradigm used by some to make themselves feel they are "better" than others.

If people stopped creating artificial goals to ensure various people/groups fail (Race, religion, political beliefs, LGBT, etc etc etc) and simply allowed everyone to be the best they can be at what ever they do, well life would be much simpler and happier for everyone.

One of the most "manly" things I have seen is a father crying with his children at the funeral of their mother. It let them know their grief was real and was shared by the one parent they had left.

If you agree with the following, then your manliness is still intact, however if you take issue with any of these rules, then serious questions may need to be asked:

Man's Rules for Women:

-- Learn to work the toilet seat. You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down.

-- Birthdays, Valentines, and Anniversaries are not quests to see if we can find the perfect present yet again!

-- Sometimes, we are not thinking about you. Live with it.

-- Do not ask us what we are thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as navel lint, the shotgun formation, and NASCAR.

-- Sunday = sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides. Let it be.

-- Shopping is NOT a sport, and no, we are never going to think of it that way.

-- When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear is fine. Really.

-- Crying is blackmail.

-- Ask for what you want. Let us be clear on this one: Subtle hints do not work. Strong hints do not work. Obvious hints do not work. Just say it!

-- We don't remember dates. Mark birthdays and anniversaries on a calendar. Remind us frequently beforehand.

-- Most guys own three pairs of shoes - tops. What makes you think we'd be any good at choosing which pair, out of thirty, would look good with your dress?

-- Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.

-- Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That's what we do. Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.

-- A headache that lasts for 17 months is a problem. See a doctor.

-- Check your own oil! Please.

-- Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument. In fact, all comments become null and void after 7 days.

-- If you won't dress like the Victoria's Secret girls, don't expect us to act like soap opera guys.

-- If something we said can be interpreted two ways, and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one.

-- Let us ogle. We are going to look anyway; it's genetic.

-- You can either ask us to do something or tell us how you want it done - not both. If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself.

-- Whenever possible, please say whatever you have to say during commercials.

-- Christopher Columbus did not need directions, and neither do we.

-- The relationship is never going to be like it was the first two months we were going out. Get over it. And quit whining to your girlfriends.

-- ALL men see in only 16 colors, like Windows default settings. Peach, for example, is a fruit, not a color. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is.

-- If it itches, it will be scratched. We do that.

-- We are not mind readers and we never will be. Our lack of mind-reading ability is not proof of how little we care about you.

-- If we ask what is wrong and you say "nothing," we will act like nothing's wrong. We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle.

-- I'm in shape. - ROUND is a shape.

Working in IT hasn't had an impact on my 'manliness'.

While a lot of the previous replies are funny, if you aren't feeling yourself maybe talk to the doctor. You could have mild depression in which you need to get on top of sooner rather than later.

If you don't feel that blue maybe its time to get a new hobby, join a sports team or some other club thats not computer related. I like to spend my spare time working on cars.

networkn: I have fathered two children whilst working in IT, it doesn't appear to have affected my manliness one bit. My wife often comments how manly I smell :-)

That's a good point and why I've selected it as one of the answers. Anything that makes you feel different or uncofortable needs to be checked out. It could be just a results of being more mature or could point to other physiological or emotional problems.

I'd say even there's a missing #6 item in that list and you haven't realised yet.

BTR, I think your suggestions are spot on. I did have years of a form of depression until a couple of years ago, I related it to working in NZ's IT industry being too relaxed (at least in my projects, in which I often completed three-month projects in one or two months and had nothing to do later). I do actually have an old car that needs to be restored to working condition, which I've been thinking about for a long time but the idea hasn't eventuated - I think I will make a start now laughing Thanks for the suggestions.

This one's wrong - Columbus did need directions. Columbus thought he was in the outer reaches of Asia when he landed in the America's. In 1502, Amerigo Vespucci, whom the American continents are named after, worked out where Columbus had been tongue-out
