I too have my domains with Metaname and have found them really good, not moving anytime soon.

So just to confirm, once the 5 days are up, I can transfer it to a new domain register and not have to pay the new one anything? I'll just do that then - because I'm not really expecting them to reply to my cancellation request within 5 days anyway.

Get UDAI code and transfer it to Metaname or another compentant provider free of charge whenever you like.
