Its not just Xero's pdfs . The issue is with Acrobat Reader DC.

Acrobat Reader DC is full of weird bugs after the last update
pdfs not opening,at all (not just xero's pdfs), reader opening multiple instances:all hanging, pdfs on some
network shares not opening (OK if copied to the PC) , other programs that use reader to open pdfs hanging crashing
Seen this across multiple companies . many PC's , all just this week.

My 'fix' in every case above was to restart PC First , then uninstall DC , install v11, turn off reader updates.

Only come across it with Xero ones so far, or at least our clients have. No others seem to have caused any problems :)

Seems that Xero are indeed having problems with PDFs and the latest Adobe reader: https://status.xero.com/incidents/87j2xwygyx38

We are processing thousands of Xero generated PDFs every day and don't believe there is any issue, at least fromn what we have seen.

And yet,
Xero themselves would disagree .
The issue is real , as acknowledged by BOTH Xero & Adobe

"Official Xero Reply"
"Thanks for posting, everyone. I can confirm our team are currently looking into a compatibility issue with Adobe Reader (version 2018.009.20044), causing the freeze and blank document issues you've noted here."
"Right now, you and your customers will be able to view the PDF's online through a supported web browser, rather than opening in Adobe Reader..."

What I've heard is that theres a function issue in Adobe Reader that Adobe themselves have always ignored, and in the latest version they finally fixed it - but unfortunately, in the meantime, vendors such as Xero have been coding stuff with that issue included (they didnt know otherwise), and of course now their PDFs (and others) are failing.
