sleemanj: So many recommendations for osCommerce. Allow me to be the voice of dissent.
osCommerce sucks *ss. From a developer's perspective it's a hige pile of badly written, very old, spaghetti code. Woe-betide you should want to customise it, or maintain it for that matter.
Please, for the love of all that is holy, don't use osCommerce.
adamj: Perhaps it would be more helpful to this thread for you to post an alternative for the OP to consider.

I'm happy to give my learned opinion on osCommerce (and it's derivatives) only in the hopes that people considering this will look at alternatives whatever they may be. I'm a developer, I do not wish to advertise my services here out of respect for the noncommercial nature of forums.
As I've said, I'm a developer, one who has been tasked with extending and maintaining osCommerce installations in the past, and one who no longer even considers doing so, for the reasons I have already outlined.
Open Source, Free, and User/Admin friendlyness (and I'd debate this in the case of OSc, and many other common open source web systems, but each to thier own) is great, but if the underlying code is a half set jelly then eventually you're going to be in trouble.
