Hmm I just checked and you are indeed right, my bad.

$980 is one hell of an increase considering the only advantage is they send the media as well!

Is it possible to pay for shipment of a particular item e.g Windows 7 RTM on a download only account, as I am interested in getting these sort of disks sent to me but not every single one (hence not the need for the Download + Media Account)

dannyres: Yeah I think it is in breach although they do not enforce it. I believe you are eligible for 10 product keys for each product. As above if you are "testing" then it is okay..

When I joined Technet in 2006 or was it 7 I don't know anymore. It was 1 key per product and 10 activations per product key on multiple devices. I tested this with Vista on multiple machines at launch in Nov 2006 using the same key.

I think the multiple keys were introduced because MS would give you another key if you called them and asked for it. One of the Technet yearly surveys also asked a question about the number of product keys being enough?

So I now believe a product key can be activated 10 times on 10 different pieces of equipment, A bit like OEM as long as the activation is on the same equipment it is not counted as a new activation. I could be very wrong. But my Vista activations have been over 10 for one key thats for sure (b***tard buglars who nicked my laptop, last laugh on them though as it had a faulty Nvidia graphics card).

Anyway this is probably a mute point now as you can claim keys whenever you want now.

40% off is worth it though.

I tried the TechNet TNSUMMER09 promotional code, and sadly it seems to be no good.

I got the e-mails to say it was ready to activate, however whenever I tried to activate my subscription it kept failing.

A phonecall to Microsoft Support revealed that it would never activate because it was a promotional code for North America only (I guess the 'summer' should have given that away) and that I couldn't use it.

I'm getting a refund. I guess I'll wait until something locally available shows up.

Bugger.

PS: Anyone know any locally available promotions? TechNet Plus is out of my reach at full price, but I'm developing and testing a network management system on a shoestring budget so it would be handy for testing on different Windows flavours (I'm trying to design a management/deployment system that works with the XP/Vista Home editions)

Bummer sorry to hear that. :( I just assumed it work as it accepted the code on the NZ TechNet website (and a few other people said they signed up). Did anyone else (dan?) who got a subscription have this problem? Sorry again. :(

Oh-kayy, my subscription's now working. I hope it's not still getting cancelled! I'm gonna call first thing tomorrow to try to keep it.
