You are going about your education the wrong way.

Work out what JOB in the IT industry you want to do, and work backwards from there as to what qualifications/skills are REQUIRED to get into this job.

Then figure out where you can get said qualifications/skills and it will all make sense!

The force is strong with this one!

Why do you want to be in IT?

Answer that, and you will be half way to figuring out what to study.

And don't say for the money haha, cause very few people who do it for the money will last. Geek is not a job, it's a way of life Laughing

Thats kinda what I was driving at. There still seems to be a perception that 'getting into IT' equals big bucks. The truth is that for the majority of people, you'll earn more being a plumber.

I work in IT coz I'm good at it, and I enjoying doing things I'm good at. At some point, it become a passion, but I can't fully recall when.

Sometimes it is rubbish. But they won't pay you to work if it was easy and fun all the time.. people would do it for free. But standing back after a hard year and looking at people using software that I specified... well, there is nothing better than that.

Im a Tech.. I did 2 years in chch at the now defunct Carich (which was at the time the largest IT training institute in NZ). I got my A+, Network +, MCSA and Diploma in computing level 5 in that time all for about $15k and that included a computer to take home at the end of the A+ course..
Since then ive been with the same company for 5 years. Its definitely not about the money as i have friends doing manual labour type jobs for more $ than i get Yell (i live in blenheim though, hardly a thriving metropolis, another lifestyle choice).

I had 2 flatmates leave their computer science degrees half way through there second year to come join me on my Net+/mcsa course as they thought they would get more out of it than there degree's.
