iLO2 port on the back? Looks like a standard network port but should be labelled "iLO2".
this is the lights-out management interface - connect to the network, hopefully it will just DHCP then browse to the IP address. There should be a service tag with MAC address and username/password details attached to the server.
This may help:

Probably not much good if there is no power to the system! Tongue out

Mind you, if iLo has been setup and you can get a small amount of power to the system (not pressing the power button) you should be able to get into it. Not sure what it will tell you though, I think it only allows you to power it on.

If you plug the PSU's in and you get lights on the front then there should be enough power for iLo to work.  This is by design and allows techs to power on systems remotely that have been shut down.

Only works if iLo has been setup and you know the settings (cause it is ex lease I am guessing not)

Don't worry about it. It will probably take longer to figure out the settings than what it is worth.

How are you getting on with removing parts?

I really haven't thought about pulling it all apart. Its not a high priority. We don't actually use the server. It is one we are selling. That's what we do, sell ex lease IT gear.

I was trying to work out what was wrong with it so we could put it in the trademe ad.

It sounds like the power supplies are shot though.

Thanks for all the help. I appreciate it.

Cheers

How many disks does it have in it? What size?
How much RAM and what type of CPU's?
Does it have OEM software with it?

You might find someone who has a faulty server but perfect PSU's that would jump at the chance to get hold of it.

I would say around $800 at least for it

oops

You cant guesstimate what it may be worth if you don't know the specs:

Hp Proliant G5
Dual 1.86GHz Intel Xeon CPU's
4GB ram
2 x 36GB 15k hdd'S
2 X 72gb 15K hdd'S
CDRW/DVD rom
FDD

The only software I have for it is a pack that is marked "HP Proliant Server - Setup Poster" and "HP Insight Foundation Suite for Proliant - Tools for server configuration and management"

Possibly 2 dead PSU's (hot swappable)

P.S.
I didnt come here to sell it, but I would consider any offers :)

Yeah the guts alone in it are worth it.

The foundation suite includes the smartstart CDs which are great to get the server up and running fast (you need to supply your own OS and license though)

As a bit of a comparison, we sold a ML350 G4 for $800 on trademe, it worked kinda. Kept losing drives on the raid card. removing them and plugging them back in fixed it for a while.
It had similar specs to above, but older hardware.

I would put it up for $800 no res and see what happens, it is trademe, it is free to relist :P

It seems the software I mentioned didnt come with this server, it looks too new.

The setup poster software is for a ML330 G6 (or so the sticker on it says)

I would put it up for $1 and watch people fall over themselves to buy it.  Should go well above $800.
