richms: If they do put their prices up to that point then you would just move the domain to someone else before renewing it, but I think there are places where the standard price is close to $8 a year so they would be idiots to up the price a huge amount at the end of your introductory deal.

Besides, hopefully in 3 years your business has grown to the point that even if it was $100 a year it would be chump change ;)

Awesome... Thanks for your help

rscole86: It may pay to have a simple site, so if anyone tries 'googling' due to your old xtra.co.nz nolonger working, they will hopefully still find you.

If she does choose to do this (ill talk to her about it this weekend) what is the best way to do this? (e.g hosting etc... im kinda new to this side of things)

I have all of the google apps stuff set up now... Im just waiting for all off the mail to start directing to googles servers now.

lol... you could actually use Google Sites.
You can access Google Sites from within your newly set up Google Apps admin dashboard.
It provides a free and simple way to create a basic website.
Have a look in your Google Apps dashboard.

Have been thinking about this... And have deceided that it was a good idea... But I cant seem to set up the sites... The first problem I have is that I get the godaddy parking page when I go to the url... even though I canged the www cname alias to google.. and also when I go directly to the google sites link I get a page asking me to log onto the domain using my credentials... I want the page to be public, but have no idea how. (this) was one of the sites examples... I want to set it up in this format but obviously with different information/layout etc.

Thanks

Assuming you need to change your name servers info to google.  I dont have mine setup on google sites so cant be much help.  However when wanting to point your domain to a server (google) you need to change the A records so they point there.

I was just following the instructions that google apps had laid out for go daddy... It has a step by step process that I just went along and done.. But its not going to be much use anyway until I can make a public page using the sites... But thanks for the tip.. Ill go and have a look around on google apps to see what else i can find.

.... So does anyone know how to make a public page using sites?
