richms: I dont deal with places with cheap, discount etc in their names generally. If they want to name themselves after being cheap then it kinda sets low expectations.


I would generally follow that same principle, but I went to namecheap based on reviews and recommendations not based on their name.

I have reminders in my calendar to check my domains for expiry every three months. If I spot a name expiring in the 3-5 month time frame I renew it. Domains are cheap, but can be priceless.

I agree with that. It is marketing 101. You also find that companies that have these low cost brands often have other more premium brands offering the same services at a higher price, but the difference is often in the support levels.
