GregV: Hmmm, how long does it usually take to receive the UDAI from d4l vie email?

Should be a few minutes but I've experienced in the past it never came - request it again or phone their support.

No they don't however just get Zoho Mail (https://www.zoho.com/mail/) and do it through that. Far more reliable and free.

Sorry for the ignoramus-like question, but if I sign up for a domain through Metaname, and I use Office Business Premium 365 to manage as the email server and Oulook as client, do I also need to use a site like Zoho Mail for email forwarding? I'm assuming this version of Office will be all I need, but just wanted to be sure.

If you're using Office 365 there is no need for Zoho or just email forwarding in general. This can be done in Office 365 itself for free IIRC. How Email forwarding works with Domains4less is they add their own email server(s) as a MX record on your domain - if you're also using Office 365 on this domain it'll cause issues due to multiple MX records going to different places. Consolidate them under your main Office 365 account by adding the domain and set forwarding rules in the admin panel to forward emails to the right place. Zoho is just a free alternative but I was running off the assumption you were lets say forwarding emails from your domain to something like a Gmail address.

Interesting, wouldn't come through to my live.com address, but worked just fine when I changed it to my Gmail (and yes I did check that I had the correct address). Now using metaname/Zoho.

I had assumed I'd need the Business Premium version of Office 365, given only that and Business Essentials clearly state they include email.

Is this incorrect, in that any version of Office 365 will give me appropriate email support to run email addresses (one main and aliases are all that's needed) based off a domain we will own? I was otherwise going to purchase Personal Home but for the lack of the stated email support.

Can anyone, eg @nathan, confirm which versions will provide both full downloadable Office apps plus the email sever management? Many thanks.

Ps, pls let me know if I should start a separate thread to have this q answered.

One thing I'd like to point out about Metaname that is different to a lot of other registrars is that they perform a renewal when you transfer a domain to them.

.com names must be renewed for 12 months when transferred between registrars but .nz names may be transferred without renewal right up to term date. They'll need renewing prior to term of course.

Does anyone know if their price breaks apply per first level domain or based on total quantity of domains with them?. Ie would 8. nz and 8 .com domains qualify for the 16-127 pricing?

It seems to be based on total quantity from my experience.

This. Price breaks are based on total number of names regardless of TLD although they must be active. Names that are pending release don't count.

Does metaname do DNSSEC if your DNS is hosted elsewhere e.g. cloudflare or do you need to use metaname DNS?

Hosted elsewhere, not sure if Metaname do DNSSec for when they manage your DNS.

It's possible to publish DS records and have your DNSSEC elsewhere such as Cloudflare. If using Metaname name servers then it's possible to have hosted DNSSEC, which includes ZSK rolls each month and annual KSK rollover.

It's possible to publish DS records and have your DNSSEC elsewhere such as Cloudflare. If using Metaname name servers then it's possible to have hosted DNSSEC, which includes ZSK rolls each month and annual KSK rollover.

I didn't realise you had to enable DNSSEC under your account settings which is why I didn't figure it out the first time - I just assumed I couldn't do DNSSEC with my DNS hosted by Cloudflare.

Once I figured that out over the weekend I moved all my nz domains back to metaname and enabled DNSSEC :)

Thanks, Nathan - appreciate the response (despite this being OT!). I'd imagine we'll go with the second option, given the high up-front cost of option 1, and the assurance in option 2 of always having the most up-to-date software. I also wonder if it's worth trying to use SharePoint Online as a basic CRM tool, which I understand is possible - my wife doesn't need anything flash for managing this, but a single tool to bring together all material related to clients would still be useful.

Promise this is my last OT-post in this thread!
