I shifted to teamviewer -- rather impressed, equally as good, if not better than logmein.

Crappy day though, first having problems with tradespeople who make new companies every year to avoid liability then I find out that logmein is going away!!!!

I've had Team Viewer from the beginning and it's always been great for me managing up to 8 computers in our household.. Plus I don't think there is a max computer allowance for Team Viewer is there? If so, I seem to have more than enough!

Ok, installed Google Chrome Remote Desktop in all PCs around here - even servers and it's brilliant. Easy to use, always there and simple.

Why couldn't Microsoft create something like that instead of pulling the RDP thing with port forwarding, firewalls, etc?

Wow, Chrome Remote Desktop works really well. Better than logmein as I always had parts of some applications that the graphics never worked right, e.g. Firefox, and some custom .Net apps.

Now it is much easier to access and it all works perfectly!

HAHAHA Priceless. Post of the year so far for me.

After using Free VNC Solutions for many years perfectly well, we recently purchased Screenconnect and I am just KICKING myself we didn't do it earlier.

It's as good as Teamviewer as far as we could tell with a few minor exceptions and pricing just kills TV.

Amosnz: My work has a Corporate TeamViewer license for version 8, however now that version 9 is released they want us to pay for the upgrade.
At these prices it should be a lifetime license, so if you are thinking about buying TV bear this in mind.

Our organization will be buying Teamviewer 9 licenses with 10 seats in couple of months. While the initial cost of the corporate/enterprise license that comes with 3 seats is cheap, the additional seats are not. Saying that it's a one off cost and only need to pay 30% of the advertised price for version 10 or version 11 etc updates. Any version 9 updates are free of cost. Still better than the VNC solution we use now.

I strongly urge you to investigate Screenconnect. We have just been through 6 weeks of testing all of the solutions we thought were viable for commercial support and bang for buck it's hard to beat.

That's good to know, I'm going to test it out today but from what I've read it sounds like it will be what I'm looking for.

One of my clients who had 10x free computers in their LMI account had been given a 6 month free subscription to Pro when they logged in this morning. LogMeIn called them "valued clients", despite never having paid a cent in the past.

Seems the backlash has had some affect. Not surprising.

Set it up last night on the home PC, but trying to connect this morning from work it says it can't connect :(

Found Chrome Remote Desktop 'just worked' - which is always a plus.

Was quite surprised when I connected from home to work.
I have 2 screens at work - it displayed both of them!
Does make the screens look a bit small - dont know if it can toggle - but quite impressed it showed me both.

Hmmm, with Chrome Remote Desktop it seems that each time you want to share your screen, you need to give the access code to the person who wishes to access your computer. This won't work for the "elder support" I am sometimes required to give. Quite often I get the "Mum's computer not working, can you fix it? She has left it running." question and the beauty of LMI was that I could do that without any intervention on her part. Might try Teamviewer. Or have I misunderstood something?

My understanding is that Chrome Remote Desktop has two modes it can operate in.

"Remote Assistance" mode is where you want to give someone a one-time access. It will generate a pin that you can then give to the remote person.

"Remote Desktop" mode is where you have permanent access and nobody needs to be around on the machine you're accessing.

Hmm - I remember I had to log into my google account on the remote PC.
Then you install the app and grant remote access and set up a PIN.

From the other PC I can access the remote PC (and see its status). I can log in with my PIN no problem.
