A friend over there is looking at changing ISPs. I took a look at Internode's rate card and was stunned to find 25/5 NBN with a 600 GB cap for the same price that I pay for 100/20 unlimited over here

Most NZers don't realise our UFB plans are basically offering them some of the best internet in the world at prices that's exceptionally competitive on a global basis.

Yup, and they'd be lucky to be in a NBN area. They are nearly as rare as hens teeth.

We pay $80 a month for our crappy cable with a 200GB cap and to upgrade to the 100/2 would would give us 500GB and cost over $100.

So what do we call anything less than 25Mbps? My speed is so slow, I'm only getting 16Mbps, it's basically dial-up speed.

From what I've seen, our fibre prices don't look great when compared to those in other countries (with reasonably widespread fibre at similar speeds.) Those countries (parts of Europe and Asia) seem to have significantly cheaper and/or faster plans.

Outside of that limited comparison, we're not doing too badly.
