and it looks like the influx of NZHerald viewers has just used up the Google Drive quota of the account that was hosting the warning sound.

PaulBags: Here's two: phone's being used for other purposes (e.g my kitchen clock), and avoiding scheduled tests.
Also, the alerts' format is terrible. It's not a reason to disable, but would like to see it addressed.
I can't see why there would ever be a need for scheduled tests.
people compliant there was no proper alert system in the country after Kaikorua and now people want opt out..

Govt owns the radio frequencies. Therefore, it gets to do what it wants with the radio frequencies to implement alert systems.
Great system and the recent test message was very clear and unambiguous.
