Right guys, as I was able to get my $25 credit for my nexus

what are the *must have* apps

I will start

Tablet Talk (lets you get/send sms on your tablet via your phone, uses wifi and bluetooth to do it) $2.99US
BSplayer (network stream of media and video player) $6.25US
HD widgets (already owned this one) good for time and weather
Netflix (free, works via a VPN)
spotify (music) I also have a Logitech wireless speaker adaptor which lets me connect to my sound system from the nexus and stream music to it via bluetooth (it works well)

So anyone else have any good things for a non rooted nexus 7.

I like tablet talk except everyone gets my msgs twice! Only happens when using the app. Thought it was goSMS causing it but uninstalled that and its still doing it. Could be the ROM I'm using.

Not sure it's a must have but I like the B&N ebook reader application Nook. But I think you might need to sideload that because strictly speaking you can't buy content from B&N from here but there are many ways around that.

As a reader it has nice touches such as page flipping animation (eye candy really but nice), ability to read any epub format and works across a number of platforms.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Tablet talk sounds very useful, can do the same thing via the native WebOS app on the HP Touchpad.

How'd you manage to get the $25 credit?

Flipboard is a marvellous news aggregator that looks good on a bigger screen, works well in conjunction with Pocket (aka Read It Later)

I reset the tablet and when it asked to connect to wifi i used an open US proxy, also updated the address in my google wallet to my shipping address in the US.

Last page of setup gives you the $25 dollars.

I can recommend the London 2012 Results app by London 2012. You can set it for New Zealand and it gives you the timetable in NZ time as well as news stories of NZ interest. You can even set an alarm to remind you an event you want to watch is about to start. It also has details of each event and the qualification process to get to the final as well as athlete biographies.
