They are getting much better at making their sites look like the original manufacturers, or that they are based in NZ. Drop-shippers can be a good deal, but it is hard to know: you might have no recourse if if there are issues with payment, delivery, service or product.

My first example is http://ainol-novo.com/ - it looks official and sells Ainol tablets, but it is not affiliated with Ainol (ainol.com). Instead it is is run by someone in China. It doesn't have a way to return faulty goods (even though it talks about RMA procedures) and has no way to contact except via a webpage...

A second example is http://www.valuebasket.co.nz/ which makes a good effort to look like it is NZ based (the 09 phone number is presumably a VOIP number?) but the whois information shows it is a drop-shipper run from Hong Kong.

Using whois (http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp for .com domains and http://www.loungenetwork.co.nz/whois/ for NZ domains) on either of the above domains shows the actual details.

There are heaps of these websites around and more are popping up regularly. Many are legit, and are made to appear more legit because they use a NZ domain, and a NZ phone number prominently on the website. But if you want to make sure they are a NZ business, always check that they are a NZ registered company on the NZ companies office and check the address too. This is one reason why I believe nz domains should be restricted to NZ entities, like they are in Australia. But it is probably too late now.

Been looking at alternatives to the usual big 6 or 5 or is it 7 tablet manufacturers such as Samsung, Apple and so on. After some searching and reading it seems like these three are the better quality and respected alternatives outside the "western world": Ramos, Onda and Ainol ... I know, I know.

Then I found that Ainol has an NZ prescence - but couldn't find them on NZ Companies Govt site. Anyone know if they are actually a part of Ainol China - the legit international site appears to be:
http://www.ainol.com/

The NZ one I've found is:
http://www.ainol.co.nz/

The other two alternatives I'm looking at are:
http://www.ramos-tablet.com/
http://www.onda-tablet.com/buy-android-onda.html

Anyone able to confirm which are the legit manufacturer sites for these two also?

Cheers and thanks.

I see you already posted the same question in its own topic...

I'm locking this one again now, seeing we rather not have duplicate discussions.

Please follow up on the new one.
