Using the above APKs I downloaded and installed all 3 parts of Facebook Home (Home itself, and the home compatible FB and Messages apps). It's a bit laggy when it's pulling down tons of new posts, but after the initial pull it's about as spiffy as my Nova Launcher with Widgets was.

Chatheads are amazing, especially since FB Messages became one of my primary means of communications regardless of how much I resisted.

I would like to be able to banish posts from the screen though; you know those posts that your friends make that make you facepalm and think "really?!", well those end up on your screen as well. So right now my front post screen is Vegeta in a dress... be right back, going to murder that friend... I may be sometime

The chatheads is about the only good thing out of all this.

I think the whole thing is aimed at people who use their phone as a social media device only.

If you use your phone as a phone or for anything more than Facebook it is somewhat annoying. I found the whole thing to be a little unintuitive. Also the fact that it disabled your lockscreen security and has none of its own is a problem.

Glad I saw your comments. I don't bother with FB but the latest update of FB App on my HTC One X was for the new Home launcher etc. Apparantly HTC's upper level phones (HOX HOX+ and One) are getting it pushed to their preinstalled FB App. I disabled FB as I don't need another launcher installled.

FYI: You can hit the setting button on the homescreen and untick "show on lockscreen". This restores the security of the Lockscreen and will not display any images or chats on said lockscreen.

It looks like a nice low cost device, but it's only on one network and it probably won't be sold as a low cost device here if ever. So I agree with Freitsam

However, most of the reviews are moaning about lack of folders and widgets. The launcher was designed to be minimalistic, to work off one page of apps and give easy access to the "installed app" menu. They did say they might do widgets and folders at a later date, but couldn't think of ways to implement them "correctly" in a way that complements rather than compromises the design choices of the launcher.

As someone who loathes widgets, I like the launcher itself - just wish we could pick the "streams" we see on our screens
