I love the look and feel of jellybean on my S2, but it's killed the battery life. Anyone else suffering?

Have you done a hard reset since the JB update? This spoken about all over the inter web, If after a update battery life is crap do a hard reset wipe the handset start again

I had the same issue going from 2.3.x to 4.0.x on a S2 hard reset sorted it out issue also impacted a good mate of mine

I'm still on 4.0.4 since there is no JB update available to me, but I've noticed the battery seems to be getting worse every week. Like this even I was sitting on 18% battery, restarted the phone, made sure all applications were closed, doing nothing but texting. Wi-fi router 1.5m away.. down to 1% in no time.

You aren't using "andclip" are you?

This very useful wee app will *KILL* a battery stone dead in 5 hours if you let it. Usage is recorded as "Android OS"

Another thing that kills my battery (LG 3D Max with Gingerbread) is going to Beach Haven Point (harbour end of Beach haven Road). The 3G reception there is terrible. I sometimes can't make phone calls either.

I have been renovating a flat there for the past couple of months (evenings and weekends). On Vodafone, my battery is all but gone after about 5 hours. Telecom's reception is slightly better (on an LG Optimus 3D running Gingerbread)....but still nowhere near as good as at home about 2km away.

Thanks, no I hadn't considered this. I'll do a hard reset today and advise in a couple of days if any improvement.

where i live, vodafone 3g coverage is very bad, but 2g is full bars, so i just force my phone to 2g most of the time and turn 3g on before i use any smart feature that need bandwidth and i do not have wifi - have found this change 8 hour battery life to 2 - 3 days.

and I have a new battery as well.

In short, battery life has improved (to the point that I can now live with it), but still nowhere as good when the phone was new and running earlier versions of android.

Most likely an app is killing it as well but hard to know unless you have something like betterbatterystats running.

Most likely when the phone had earlier versions you had less app's or maybe used it differantly.

Same problem here with telecom S2. Was getting a good 24 hrs battery life on ICS but now getting around 6 hrs max on JB.
Have done a hard reset but that hasn't improved the problem.
Is there any way to roll back the update to ICS without bricking the phone?

hmm that's interesting ... i'm finding that too ... i thought it was all the apps but i am running no new apps compared to when it was on ICS ... maybe time to roll back!

oh and the 4.1.2 modem is not as good compared to the ICS one (for telecom rom)

Have you switched off Google Now, it was sucking battery in large amounts.

Yep killed Google now and have checked all apps and set everything to manual update only. I'm on the original battery so that must be approx 20 months old now. Will try new battery and see if that helps but loathe to have to upgrade the phone as I really like this model.
