Apologies but I cannot find the answer on Google and I didnt fancy trolling through 46 pages of the s4 thread.

Basically, can you remove the telecom splash screen easily without rooting or sending it to a store?

I have tried a hard factory reset and it didnt do it.

I did not have any custom firmware to upload in those menus so I just scrolled down and chose reset etc.

You need to flash the firmware to remove the Telecom splash screen. It's quite a process and can brick your phone if you haven't done so before.

And the splash is just something that appears on boot, for a few seconds. Is that really something you can't live with?

Just trying to understand why people do it... As it doesn't impact phone performance after the boot is done, there's no locks, etc...

You have to have root if you want to just simply copy over the stock boot animations. There's a post on xda about it.

Cool thank you I might root eventually but for now its only 2 days old I might just enjoy it. I don't find it anywhere near as restrictive as iPhone un JB. I have had iPhones since 3gs and drew the line at the iPhone4. The iPhone 5 for me was what I was hanging out for but when it came out it was just a big disappointment compared to the s3 at the time.

I feel the Android OS just works and just lets me do stuff that I should be able to do anyway without having to JB the device or root it.

Does this mean an s4 purchased from Vodafone will be more likely to get updates sooner? Also, there's no differences in hardware between the Telecom and Vodafone models right? Thanks

I always wonder why people pay big money for a fone and the first thing they do is screw with it and void the warranty. Too much money I guess ..

If you screw with it, but know what you are doing, then you wont void the warranty ;)

Plug in the usb then change the battery ;)

Good point, you could pretend you have an iphone and can't remove the battery or just shut your eyes and think soothing thoughts while it boots up. :)
