Bought a LG P500h from Telecom, no probs. Inserted Vodafone SIM and worked ok, now it does not recognise Telecom SIM.

Ideas?

Please post more information.

Have you tried different telecom sims?
Have out tried different voda sims?
How old is the phone?
Have you taken it to a telecom store?
Have you tried the telecom sim in a different device?

You need to isolate whether it is the sim or handset having an issue.

Welcome to the forums. I have added the text to your post because you pushed everything into the subject - not the way of doing it, since it makes it harder to read because of limited space.

Now with this out of the way, did you buy this handset from Telecom yourself, or another place (used one from Trade Me for example)?

Did you root this handset, or changed the ROM, radio stack or firmware in any way?

Hi thank you for the tutorial and I apologise for the way I started this query. Yes my LG was bought direct from Telecom and no nothing was altered. The phone operated perfectly whilst my telecom sim was in it and again when the vodafone sim was used in it, the problem occurred after I reinserted my telecom sim. It is able to function with wi-fi but there is a red ! over the sim icon. Have tried another telecom sim and that is not recognised, I have ordered and received another sim card from Telecom and status shows ph number and network unknown with new sim inserted. I have retained the same ph number.

Have you fully factory reset the device, and checked to see if it has any updates from LG's software update tool on your PC?

1) is 3G turned on?
2) Network mode set to Automatic?
3) Is the SIM active? Feel free to PM me the sim ID and your mobile number so I can check.
4) Phone barred off the network maybe? Reported lost? Send me the IMEI and I can check this too.
5) Has some Ninja swapped it with the Vodafone version and quickly copied your information over meaning really, you have a Vodafone one? Believe me, these Ninjas are sneaky, especially those Vodafone ones.

Hi I have just recharged my LG P500h bought from telecom as per my post in May 2011. I inserted my newly received spark sim with my unchanged phone number and still the red circle surrounding the white exclamation mark remains. All applications loaded when my mobile was bought work via wifi. However when in settings and in search for networks the NZ Comms, Telecom NZ and Vodafone NZ are highlighted to choose. RAT: GSM and WCDMA for those networks. My query is how can I get my LG to recognize my new current sim or do I need to delve in to the bowels of my phone? My Lg works well but there is no connection to a network how do I remedy this? My apologies if this is the wrong process or forum.

Does your new Telecom/Spark SIM work in another Spark handset ? - go to a store if you need to

Another option is to back up phone & factory reset

My sim does work in another phone. Yes I took my phone to telecom in 2011 and they couldn't help.
