That by default the setting is 9megapixels instead of the 13 you expect, unless you change it

Pay attention to the resolutions, 9MP @ 1080x1920 or other way around depending on orientation. The 13 MP option is for 4:3 ratio.

I know, However most people, new people in particular would expect that all their photos are 13megapixels

I think you're looking for 9:16 rather than 1080:1920 :O



The phone can be 16:9 or 9:16.
Due to the fact you can rotate the phone, I know what 16:9 is and 4:3 ratio's, I could be asked figuring out the 4:3 resolution so i just wrote that.

Yes, the default is 9.6MP (4128x2322, 16:9) for aspect ratio reasons as john mentioned - this fits the aspect ratio of the screen. You can certainly set it to 13MP (4128x3096, 4:3) if you want.

It's not a bad idea as 90% of people are going to view the pics on the phone, their pc or a tv which will most likely all be 16:9.
